Experience
- Abi has worked as an archaeologist since 1995 in Ireland,
Sicily and Australia and has considerable experience working on Irish Early Christian,
Medieval and Post-Medieval archaeological projects.
Since moving to Sydney in 2006 Abi has dedicated her time to Australian Historical archaeology.
- Has extensive experience in directing and managing large complex urban excavations in Ireland and Australia.
- In Sydney, Abi has worked on a variety of archaeological projects with Casey & Lowe,
including the Old Sydney Burial Ground excavation at Town Hall, Cockatoo Island,
Observatory Hill and Parramatta Justice Precinct.
She has been the Site Director for a number of excavations including 710-722 George Street and Darling Walk, Sydney.
- As a State-licensed archaeologist since 2002 Abi has been the Excavation Director
of several significant sites in Ireland including Hammond Lane,
a multi-period site with evidence for Bronze Age, Viking, Medieval and
Post-Medieval Huguenot occupation on the banks of the river Liffey in Dublin city centre.
The results of this excavation have been published in Medieval Dublin VII.
- Has been a full member of ICOMOS Ireland and the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (2002-2006).
- Abi spent six seasons (1996-2001) excavating a significant Early Christian hermitage monastic settlement on High Island,
off the west coast of Ireland, for the Irish Office of Public Works.
